If there's more than one of them you're just fucked completely and only extreme luck will carry you through after numerous attempts. You often have no time or space to run away since their attacks have such a wide area of effect. Without a dodge your mobility is total shit so assholes like Scions can kill you in like 2 hits with their OP attacks. Meanwhile enemies can strip yours away in a single attack. The whole Shield/Armor/Health system is such a pain on higher levels as you literally can't do shit to enemies until that's stripped away and doing so often takes ages even with the right weapons and powers.

Shit like the Reaper IFF with just basic Husks and a couple Scions is a slog even if you run with Samara/Thane/Miranda, have Warp Ammo for the Squad and are just slinging fully powered Unstable Warps constantly. Hell even if you have the most optimal characters with you many encounters can still be torture. The fact that your squadmates are so limited powers wise makes so many encounters exercises in frustration since their effectiveness can be limited to none in many cases. ME2 Adept Insanity run is bonkers frustrating and requires so much fuckery to get past so many encounters. Singularity and Throw and Warp can really mess anyone up. ME1 was a blast too on Insanity still because again you can do some OP shit with Biotics to fuck with enemies even if they can stomp you head to head. Being able to Warp bomb shielded enemies makes things so much more reasonable and satisfying.

The fact that your powers have more viability against shielded/armored enemies and that your squadmates have more robust powersets is such a massive boon, plus the movement and dodge systems and better melee are a god send. Man I forgot how much better ME3 was than ME2 combat wise when doing Insanity runs as an Adept.
